IN THE WORLD OF STONE

Rocky Crags and Mountain Landscapes in Tyrol

They are held to be eternal, unfathomable and majestic. They evoke amazement, awe and respect. They stand as a challenge to the beholder. Rocky crags, cliffs and mountains. Clichés? Perhaps, and yet – scarcely any other landscape is able to move people so profoundly. And hardly any other region of Central Europe is so closely linked with mountains as Tyrol. Mountain climbers, painters, poets, scientists, musicians and photographers alike have been and still are drawn to this remarkable world. The rocky crags and mountain landscapes of Tyrol are by no means unknown, unexplored terrain. But the photos and text approach these sculptures in stone with a perspective free from all the preconceived notions and images that have been passed down over the centuries.
